DISC HERNIATION & SPINE

Disc herniation and spine conditions — affecting the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar regions — occur when spinal discs or surrounding structures compress nerves and cause pain, numbness, or weakness. TC Regen routes each spine diagnosis to a board-certified physician, including an orthopedic spine surgeon, and offers regenerative and interventional procedures under Florida's HB 1617 framework.

Disc herniation and spine conditions affect the structures that support the back and neck — the vertebrae, the discs that cushion them, and the nerves that pass through the spinal column. When a disc bulges or herniates, it can press on nearby nerves and produce pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness that radiates into the limbs. TC Regen evaluates these conditions across the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar regions at its Naples and Fort Myers locations, with spine cases reviewed by a board-certified physician.

What Disc Herniation Involves

A spinal disc sits between each pair of vertebrae and acts as a cushion. A herniation occurs when the soft inner material of a disc pushes through its outer layer, sometimes contacting a nearby nerve. Depending on which region of the spine is affected — cervical (neck), thoracic (mid-back), or lumbar (lower back) — symptoms can range from localized pain to radiating nerve symptoms in the arms or legs. Because the spine is structurally complex, imaging and physician evaluation are essential to identifying the source of symptoms and the appropriate response.

Regenerative and Interventional Procedures for the Spine

Spine and disc cases are evaluated before any procedure is recommended: a board-certified physician reviews each case, and structural cases are assessed by an orthopedic spine surgeon. Where a regenerative or interventional pathway is appropriate, four procedure categories are available.

The four procedure categories:

  • Stem cell therapy — among the orthopedic and pain management indications in Fla. Stat. § 458.3245, applied where a regenerative spinal pathway is appropriate.

  • Bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) — bone marrow concentrate used in spine-related regenerative procedures following surgeon review.

  • Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) — platelet concentrate from the patient's own blood, used in interventional spine and pain procedures.

  • Image-guided interventional pain procedures — targeted to a specific cervical, thoracic, or lumbar level under fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance.

How TC Regen's Approach Differs

  • Structural spine cases are evaluated by an orthopedic spine surgeon before a regenerative pathway is considered.

  • Every case is matched to a sub-specialist, not assigned from a fixed treatment menu.

  • Regenerative procedures use the patient's own biologic material.

  • All spine care operates within Florida's HB 1617 framework.

  • Spine evaluation is available at both the Naples and Fort Myers locations.

Florida HB 1617 and Spine Conditions

House Bill 1617, codified as Fla. Stat. § 458.3245 and effective July 1, 2025, established a statutory pathway in Florida for non-FDA-approved stem cell therapy across orthopedic, pain management, and wound care indications. Disc and spine conditions fall within the orthopedic and pain management categories named in the statute. TC Regen is launching as a regenerative medicine practice operating under this framework, with spine cases matched to the appropriate board-certified physician.

Spine and disc conditions vary widely in cause and severity, and not every case calls for the same response. TC Regen evaluates each one individually — with surgeon review for structural cases — and matches it to the right physician. To begin, submit an inquiry and a patient coordinator will contact you within one business day.
